BABY & PARENTING · IMPLEMENTATION · CASE STUDY
Different stages. A more relevant welcome.
A one-off lifecycle build connected Comia Baby’s sign-up answers to distinct welcome journeys, with live flows, a personalised pop-up and reusable templates handed over to the team.
Project delivery: January–March 2026 · Implementation story
THE CUSTOMER JOURNEY
Different reasons to shop. Different product context.
No declared journey: default A/B path
01 · THE CONTEXT
The starting point
Comia’s customers did not all arrive with the same reason to shop. Someone preparing for a baby, someone in the postpartum stage and someone choosing a gift needed different product context.
The one-off project began with a January 2026 kickoff. The brief was to build customer journeys that could respond to that context and leave the brand with assets it could continue using.
THE CUSTOMER JOURNEY
What if the welcome journey started with why someone was shopping?
02 · THE WORK
Build around the next customer decision.
Make sign-up answers usable
The form setup mapped customer answers into three journey categories: preparing, postpartum and gifting. The property mapping had to match the flow logic so that the right version of the message could be sent.
Connect the answer to the product journey
The designed logic directed preparing customers towards Halo and postpartum or gifting customers towards the Premium smart pillow. A default path retained an A/B test when no journey information was available. Welcome, browse, cart and checkout work formed the initial delivery.
Launch, refine and hand over
The initial flows were confirmed live on 12 February, and the Alia pop-up was confirmed live and passing properties on 19 February. Welcome updates followed on 27 February. The March handover included campaign templates, reusable blocks and editable design access for the client.
INSIDE THE DECISIONS
The answer must change what happens next.
Comia’s three signup categories were useful because they changed the product context in the welcome. Preparing, postpartum and gifting were not decorative profile labels: the declared reason for shopping determined which introduction the customer received. The default A/B route also gave missing answers a defined place in the programme.
This is a practical test for any personalisation brief. Before adding a form question, write the message decision it will change. Then submit each answer with a test profile and verify the stored value and the resulting branch. Comia’s February property-passing milestone and March reusable-template handover show both sides of the work: make the logic function, then leave the team a foundation it can maintain.
03 · THE OUTCOME
A foundation for the next chapter.
The project delivered a working connection between sign-up context and personalised lifecycle messages. The first flow launch, subsequent pop-up launch and March handover are confirmed in the delivery records.
The client also received reusable templates and blocks to support future campaign work. This is an implementation case study: it makes no claim of a measured revenue lift or a winning A/B test.
12 February
Initial flows confirmed live after client approval.
19 February
Alia pop-up live and passing the journey properties.
18 March
Reusable templates, blocks and design access handed over.
Scope: the January–March 2026 one-off lifecycle project. Milestones are based on dated client delivery updates. The journey diagram summarises the implemented logic and is not an email screenshot. No revenue or test-lift claim is made.
THE TAKEAWAY
Build a stronger customer journey.
Useful personalisation starts with a question the customer can answer and a message that changes because of it. Comia’s project connected those two steps and gave the team reusable assets for the next stage of the programme.
WHAT TO APPLY
Only ask a question if it changes the journey.
Map every sign-up answer to a usable profile property and a specific message path. Keep a sensible fallback for missing answers, then verify that the form and the flow use the same values.
QUESTIONS ABOUT THE WORK
What this case study shows.
How can one sign-up form support different customer journeys?
Comia Baby linked sign-up answers to welcome paths for preparing, postpartum and gifting audiences. The one-off build handed over live flows, a personalised pop-up and reusable templates. Collect a small amount of useful context, then make the next message reflect it. This is implementation evidence, not a measured claim that personalisation increased revenue.
What makes email personalisation commercially useful?
Useful personalisation changes the recommendation, explanation, timing or next action based on relevant customer information. Before adding a question or segment, identify the decision it will change. Then compare outcomes with an appropriate baseline; collecting more profile fields or building more branches is not evidence of better performance.

Connect practical guidance to the product choice
The Comia email starts with an everyday use situation and explains several feeding positions before comparing two products. The content creates a reason for the recommendation rather than placing an unrelated offer underneath an article. Product descriptions and price points remain visible, allowing the reader to connect the guidance to a specific option.
A useful follow-up should reflect the product already purchased and the customer's stage. Keep product education separate from claims about a measured campaign uplift.
