SLEEPWEAR & LIFESTYLE · CASE STUDY

How Printfresh increased welcome-email revenue by approximately 74%

One better first message showed the value of sharper creative and lifecycle logic, then became the starting point for a broader automation rebuild.

THE MEASURED RESULT

more revenue from the first welcome email

30-day welcome-email test · Reported 9 March 2026 · Revenue index, original = 100

01 · THE CONTEXT

The starting point

Printfresh had a rich product catalogue spanning sleepwear, apparel, home and accessories. That variety made lifecycle relevance harder.

A customer entering through pyjamas did not necessarily need the same next message as someone interested in homeware. Product names could be long, evergreen and seasonal imagery needed different treatment, and several automated journeys could overlap if their filters were not carefully designed.

THE COMMERCIAL QUESTION

Can one lifecycle programme stay relevant across a broad catalogue without overwhelming the customer?

02 · THE TEST

Start by improving the first message

Thrivelia tested a new version of the first welcome email against the original.

The Thrivelia version generated approximately 74% more revenue and a 75% higher conversion rate over the reported 30-day test, despite a slightly lower click rate.

The result gave the team a clear next step: recommend replacing the original with the higher-revenue version, then optimise subsequent welcome emails.

THE WORK

Rebuild the surrounding lifecycle logic

Control overlap

Welcome emails were designed to pause or stop when a customer showed stronger purchase intent, such as starting checkout. Abandonment journeys could then take priority without the customer receiving conflicting messages.

Make content adapt to the product

Abandoned-cart messages used dynamic product information and category logic so pyjamas, apparel, home and accessory shoppers could see relevant content.

Add high-intent triggers

Site-abandonment, low-stock, price-drop and purchase-anniversary journeys expanded the programme beyond the conventional welcome and cart paths. By 22 April, the account team reported these automations as live.

Replace broad cross-sell rules with product journeys

An initial fabric-based post-purchase strategy created too much overlap because many pyjama sets were already cotton or eco-satin. The team moved towards product-journey logic: recommend complementary items, such as a robe after a pyjama purchase, then use predictive feeds or bestsellers where the customer did not fit a clearer path.

Build a clearer review and approval system

Flow skeletons, short walkthrough videos, Figma sections and a single status document made the logic easier to inspect before implementation.

THE RESULTS

A clearer view of performance.

The first welcome-email test delivered approximately 74% more revenue and 75% higher conversion than the original version during the reported 30-day window.

The wider work also produced a functioning set of triggered journeys across site abandonment, inventory, price changes and purchase anniversaries. It created the infrastructure for further win-back, sunset, browse, cart and post-purchase optimisation.

This is a focused test case rather than a whole-account revenue case study. Its value is precision: one message, one comparison and a clear commercial winner.

Source: account-team report of the Klaviyo welcome-email comparison, 9 March 2026. Results cover the reported preceding 30 days and compare the two versions of the first welcome email. Lifts are approximate as reported. Chart: revenue index, original = 100; this is not a dollar value. These results do not represent whole-account growth or incremental revenue. The report does not establish statistical significance. Implementation status is based on the 22 April 2026 account update.

WHAT CHANGED

A more useful customer journey.

A higher-revenue first welcome email gave the team a clear optimisation direction.

Journey hierarchy reduced conflict between welcome and abandonment.

Product and category logic improved relevance across the catalogue.

New behavioural and inventory-triggered journeys went live.

Post-purchase cross-sell moved from broad fabric rules towards complementary product journeys.

THE TAKEAWAY

Build the next step around the customer.

Lifecycle growth does not always begin with a complete account rebuild. Sometimes it begins with one focused test that identifies a better-performing message.

Thrivelia helps you build legacy.

WHAT TO APPLY

Test one decision before rewriting the whole welcome.

A focused first-email experiment can produce a useful lesson without proving that the entire account grew. Keep the test’s message, audience, duration and reported outcome attached to the claim.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE WORK

What this case study shows.

Can a welcome email earn more revenue with a lower click rate?

Printfresh’s reported 30-day comparison found approximately 74% more revenue and 75% higher conversion from a new first welcome email despite a slightly lower click rate. It concerns one message, not whole-account growth. The source report does not establish statistical significance, so use the result as a focused optimisation finding rather than a universal lift prediction.

Which metrics should decide an email or sign-up test?

Start with the business decision and choose the primary metric before launch. Evaluate conversion or revenue alongside recipient counts, offer costs and guardrail metrics, rather than declaring a winner from opens or clicks alone. Confirm the comparison is fair and the available sample supports the conclusion; short reported tests may remain directional.
