LIFECYCLE CASE STUDY

A very on-brand welcome. A clearer next step.

Middle Class Fancy’s flow project connected sign-up capture, welcome messages and shopping journeys, with launch checks across email and SMS.

LIFECYCLE CASE STUDY

Three decisions behind the work.

Implementation window: May–June 2025

01 · THE CONTEXT

The starting point

A new creative sequence only works if the form sends the right profile into it. The project covered both the messages and the connections that let customers enter the journeys.

02 · THE WORK

The decisions behind the journey.

Build the core creative

The May delivery included a three-email welcome and a five-email cart sequence for Middle Class Fancy. These were developed alongside the wider flow build.

Launch around working events

By mid-May the flows were built in Klaviyo. The launch update distinguished active journeys from the cart flow, which depended on a missing added-to-cart metric.

Check the sign-up connections

June implementation work corrected the pop-up connections across email and SMS. These checks connected audience capture to the follow-up programme.

INSIDE THE DECISIONS

Creative and entry logic are one customer experience.

Middle Class Fancy’s three-email welcome and five-email cart creative gave the programme more depth. Those messages still depended on the right signup and shopping events. The May build exposed an added-to-cart metric dependency; the June work corrected popup connections across email and SMS. That is why the project cannot be described as only an email redesign.

The welcome starts with the promise made on the form. Test the popup, profile destination, channel consent and first message together. A subscriber who opts into email and someone who also opts into SMS may have different permissions, even when they arrive through the same visual experience.

Keep brand personality and shopping relevance together.

A recognisable brand voice can make the first message feel familiar, but follow-up still needs to respond to what the customer did. Browsing, adding a product and beginning checkout are different levels of intent. The corresponding message should help with that particular next decision rather than repeat the welcome indefinitely.

Use a journey-by-journey launch record so an unavailable event does not hide inside an overall completion label. For testing, change one clear part of the message or timing and check that comparable customers enter each version. The implementation story establishes delivered work and functioning connections, without inventing a result for the missing cart dependency.

03 · THE OUTCOME

What the work delivered.

The records confirm delivered creative, a Klaviyo build and live journeys, with the added-to-cart dependency tracked separately. No revenue-growth percentage is assigned to the implementation.

WHAT TO APPLY

Take the lesson into your own programme.

Test the whole route from form submission to first message with a real test profile. Then repeat for each opt-in channel. A design approval cannot confirm that a trigger or list connection works.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE WORK

What this case study shows.

What needs to connect between a pop-up and the first welcome email?

Middle Class Fancy’s project connected sign-up capture, welcome messages and shopping journeys, with launch checks across email and SMS. Test the full path from submission to profile entry and receipt of the promised message. Completing the creative does not confirm that consent, list routing and channel eligibility all work together.

How should an implementation case study be evaluated?

Look for a defined scope, dated delivery milestones, working customer journeys and a clear distinction between creative, launched work and the remaining roadmap. Implementation evidence shows what was delivered. It should not be converted into a revenue or retention claim without a measured outcome and a suitable comparison.

Original campaign example

Let the collection's personality lead

The campaign presents a limited nostalgia collection through a bold colour palette, large product photography and the brand's humour. The supporting copy explains the design references, giving readers a reason to care about the drop. The first action appears with the hero product; the later action returns to the collection after that story has been told.

For a collection launch, separate existing customers from first-time prospects and check which products are available. Compare buying behaviour as well as click-through rate.
