LIFECYCLE CASE STUDY

Big personality. A welcome that connects.

The Shithead Steve project combined welcome and browse creative with the practical work of connecting pop-ups to live email and SMS journeys.

Welcome launch confirmed: 6 June 2025

LIFECYCLE CASE STUDY

Three decisions behind the work.

Welcome launch confirmed: 6 June 2025

01 · THE CONTEXT

The starting point

The implementation had two parts: create the messages and make sure the right subscribers could receive them. Shared operational work with a sister brand still required separate brand-specific journeys.

02 · THE WORK

The decisions behind the journey.

Build the brand’s own sequence

The May creative delivery included three welcome emails and five browse-abandonment emails for Shithead Steve.

Connect the entry points

The implementation work corrected pop-up connections for email and SMS. On 6 June, the welcome flow was explicitly confirmed live.

Track missing events honestly

The wider project’s added-to-cart flow depended on a missing metric. That dependency was kept separate from the welcome launch.

INSIDE THE DECISIONS

A memorable voice still needs a working first step.

Shithead Steve’s audience recognises the brand’s personality. The three welcome messages and five browse-abandonment creative messages needed to carry that familiarity into a shopping journey. The operational work was just as important: popup connections had to place the subscriber in the right email or SMS route before the welcome could do its job.

The 6 June confirmation provides a specific milestone for the welcome. Delivered browse creative and the wider added-to-cart dependency have different statuses. Keeping those distinctions visible makes the project understandable without turning a partial launch into a claim that every journey was complete.

Shared operations should preserve separate audiences.

Work alongside a sister brand can share a production process while retaining different customer-facing journeys. Check the form source, list, consent channel and brand of the first message as one route. A correctly designed email can still be wrong for the customer if the profile enters through another brand’s connection.

For the next review, trace one signup and one browsing session all the way to their intended messages. Look for the moment where the customer’s intent changes and what should stop further reminders after purchase. This is the practical transformation in the implementation: a recognisable creative sequence connected to the events that let people receive it.

03 · THE OUTCOME

What the work delivered.

The verified milestone is a live welcome flow after the sign-up connections were corrected, supported by delivered browse creative. The story focuses on that implementation, with no unsupported performance multiplier.

WHAT TO APPLY

Take the lesson into your own programme.

Treat each brand as its own customer journey even when the operations are shared. Check the form, list, consent channel and flow trigger together before calling a welcome programme launched.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE WORK

What this case study shows.

How do you preserve a strong brand voice in automated welcomes?

Shithead Steve’s project paired welcome and browse creative with connecting pop-ups to live email and SMS journeys. Personality works best when the operational promise also holds: the right subscriber enters, receives the expected welcome and sees a clear next step. The tone can be distinctive while the eligibility and routing remain precise.

What makes email personalisation commercially useful?

Useful personalisation changes the recommendation, explanation, timing or next action based on relevant customer information. Before adding a question or segment, identify the decision it will change. Then compare outcomes with an appropriate baseline; collecting more profile fields or building more branches is not evidence of better performance.
