LIFECYCLE CASE STUDY
A new home for the customer journey.
Vintage CB750’s lifecycle work combined a move into Klaviyo with campaign planning and practical checks on legacy automations and sign-up entry points.

LIFECYCLE CASE STUDY
Three decisions behind the work.
Implementation window: August–November 2025
01 · THE CONTEXT
The starting point
A migration has an awkward middle stage: some journeys run in the new platform while others still run in the old one. The customer should not have to experience that overlap.
02 · THE WORK
The decisions behind the journey.
Coordinate the cutover
In August, the client confirmed the old winback had been disabled in Instant so the Klaviyo version could be activated. Back-in-stock was identified as the remaining legacy flow.
Keep campaigns connected to the calendar
The work included email creative reviews and advance planning for November and December. Customer feedback was incorporated before campaigns were approved.
Check the sign-up destination
A November check identified an SMS sign-up form missing from its intended page. The issue was raised with the client so the campaign destination could work.
INSIDE THE DECISIONS
The migration passed through a mixed-platform stage.
Vintage CB750’s August work involved disabling the old winback in Instant before activating its Klaviyo replacement, with back-in-stock identified as the remaining legacy flow. That is a concrete example of the awkward middle of a migration: different customer moments can still be owned by different systems.
A cutover needs a journey-level map. Record the old trigger, the replacement, the activation owner and what happens to customers already queued. Check purchase exits as well as entry, so the move does not keep sending recovery after an order.
The destination is part of the message.
The November SMS-form check showed that an approved campaign can still point towards an incomplete customer route. Test the landing page, consent step and resulting profile before treating the message as ready. Creative reviews and November–December planning supplied the communication work; destination checks made that work usable.
For another specialist parts retailer, track campaign readiness and migration status separately. Read the subsequent performance alongside the actual activation dates and wider business conditions. The recorded engagement included weaker periods, so the implementation should be understood through its delivery and operational decisions rather than a promise that changing platforms automatically creates growth.
03 · THE OUTCOME
What the work delivered.
The delivery record shows lifecycle migration and campaign work, including explicit legacy-flow and form checks. Reporting during the engagement included weaker periods, so this implementation story does not present the migration as a uniform growth curve.
WHAT TO APPLY
Take the lesson into your own programme.
Make a cutover map: old journey, replacement journey, activation owner and rollback point. Test the linked sign-up page as well as the email. A migration is complete only when the customer can follow the whole route.
Implementation window: August–November 2025. This case study covers the specific work described. Journey diagrams explain the approach.
QUESTIONS ABOUT THE WORK
What this case study shows.
What needs checking when moving existing automations to Klaviyo?
Vintage CB750’s August–November 2025 work combined the migration with checks on legacy automations and sign-up entry points. For a similar cutover, map where contacts enter, identify which system sends each message and test the replacement before retiring the old path. A platform move should preserve the intended customer journey.
What should be checked before switching off old email automations?
Map triggers, active recipients, consent status, exclusions and data dependencies. Confirm replacement journeys receive the expected events and send correctly, then plan the cutover around people already in progress. Monitor entries and duplicate sends afterwards. This is a practical migration checklist, not a claim that every listed check formed part of this project.

Original campaign example
Turn a restock into a useful buying decision
The opening panel identifies the returning parts before asking the reader to shop. The body then separates carb holders, wiring harnesses and gaskets, pairing each with a concrete use. The repeated fitment and shipping messages address practical concerns for a restoration buyer. That gives the campaign a specific purpose beyond announcing that stock has arrived.
Keep model compatibility and availability current. A relevant restock message should send the customer to the matching part, with exclusions for products already bought where appropriate.
